Perfectionism and controlling behaviours…

“Perfectionism and controlling behaviours have been sneaking back into my life. It’s so much easier when I just let go. I know this. I have had days of feeling and believing that no matter what happens everything will be okay. Everything happens for a reason. Recently I have been struggling with that concept. Does everything really happen for a reason? I mean, in retrospect, I can find a reason for everything but that doesn’t mean everything happens for a reason. And why does that even matter? I don’t know but life is easier when I have this faith. That doesn’t mean it’s true. Just let go and breathe. I can’t control it anyway. I can only control me. It’s all good. Ups, downs and everything in between. Just go with it. Stop swimming upstream. Go with the flow” – Colin Bender

  3. Truly inspiring Colin! Being vulnerable does create self acceptance. It takes the mask of perfection away, showing us how imperfect we are, just as we should be.

  7. Great blog. I also watched Brene Brown’s TED Talk on Vulnerability and I just gave it a shot! Even though the outcome was not as I hoped, I am still going to stay open and positive.

I think you are very brave. I look forward to more posts.

  8. I am so impressed with your open-ness and willingness to be authentic. I have a lot of self-judgment and self-criticism where I measure myself against those who seem to “have it all together”. Thanks so much for sharing and paving the way for others to start shedding those huge weights of shame we carry around. I look forward to unloading some of my self-criticism and replacing it with self-love.
